This site utilizes a slightly modified version of the WebBBS CGI script (Release 3.2) for each of its three bulletin boards. This program offers a number of excellent features, including:
For all three boards you must provide a name and a subject in order to post; an e-mail address is optional. You should not use ALL CAPS in the name field as this may cause the field to take up an inordinate amount of space on the board.
The time zone used for the date of posting is Central Time (i.e. Chicago, USA). The e-mail digests are currently generated every 12 hours (if there are any new messages), shortly after 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Central Time. This schedule can be adjusted, so notify the site administrator if you prefer more or less frequent digests.
Discontinuous message numbers are most likely due to use of the "Preview Message" feature. Each time someone previews their message and then goes back to edit it, this causes a skip in the message numbering.
This board is for general discussion, and since Alan Watts wrote or spoke at least a few words on just about everything all topics are welcome. Commercial messages that directly relate to Watts - i.e. the sale of used Watts books or tapes (original only, please) - may be posted here, but the same ad should not be posted more than once per month. All other commercial posts should be posted to the Advertisements Board only.
Note that when you respond to a post, its full original text is automatically displayed in the message input box. This WebBBS option is enabled so you can easily quote specific points that you wish to respond to. To save disk space, however, please delete any portions of the quoted text which you don't feel are important for your response. This will also make the e-mail digest a shorter download and more pleasant for subscribers to read.
Also note that posts cannot be deleted from the board while any "guestbook-style" display option is chosen. For more information on display options, click the "Set Preferences" link at the top of the board.
The maximum message size for the Discussion Forum is 32K bytes (about 32,000 characters including spaces).
As stated on the main page, this board is for posting any predominantly noncommercial message which you would like everyone who visits this Web site to see. Each person is allowed one posting on this board. You should choose a deletion password so you can delete/update your post at any time. (If you misplace your deletion password notify the site administrator.)
For ease of updating, you may wish to create your message in your word processing or e-mail program, save it, and copy the text into the message input box. Then anytime you wish to update you can simply delete the old message, revise your saved file, and post again.
You can also note the URL of your Introductions Board message and use it, when you post a message to the Discussion Forum, as the URL with link title that will appear below your post. (If your browser is set to accept cookies, that URL will then automatically appear in the URL input box every time you post a message until you change it.)
Responses to posts are not allowed on this board. If you want to respond to something that you see here, copy the text and go to the Discussion Forum.
The maximum message size for the Introductions Board is 64K bytes.
This board is for the placing of commercial and noncommercial
advertisements. Maximum message size is 16K bytes. Ads will remain on the board for
at least 60 days and will then be deleted. You may repost an ad after it has been
deleted but posting duplicate ads will result in the removal of all.
This Website is hosted by a Web hosting company whose rules state:

Any bulletin board post that would put this site in violation of the Web hosting company's rules may be removed by the site administrator, as may any that might, in the site administrator's opinion, expose the Website to legal liability. "Test" posts may also be removed, as may others which, in the site administrator's opinion, are mainly intended to harrass. The site administrator may also move a post from one board to another if he feels it is appropriate in accordance with the purposes of the boards as stated above.
If a post of yours is deleted or moved and you feel that an error has been made, please speak up.
